DELIVERANCE FOR THE OPPRESSED
Thus says the LORD of hosts:The children of Israel were oppressed,along with the
children of Judah;all who took them captive have held them fast,they have refused
to let them go.Jeremiah 50:33
Oppression is a word used freely but only the oppressed knows the actual pain and
agony experienced in the hands of their oppressors.Oppression is a tool on the hands
of the wicked put to use so as to subjugate people to nothingness.
Oppressed people are people bent beneath heavy loads of affliction placed on them
by the devil or his agents in order to keep them in perpetual pain.
Judah and Israel were oppressed simultaneously because of their sins.But alas,the oppressors
were brutal and wicked by refusing them freedom which prompted God to promise
deliverance thereby silencing the threats and pains of Babylon.
Oppressors are brutal leaders who operate without mercy in their dealings with their
captors(oppressed)while the oppressed are the ones heavily beaten,brutalized,manipulated
and tortuously tormented without reprieve.
Deliverance for the oppressed does not come easily.It has to be backed with resistance
against the oppressors for freedom to be achieved.
It can be likened to a national struggle by a group of people for independence which could
involve warfare,rebellion,revolution and guerilla fighting.Freedom is free but it costs much.
But in the spiritual arena,it is not a physical combat because Satan is the principal enemy
to be challenged and conquered.Ephesians 6:12
For deliverance to be complete,perfect and final,the following steps should be followed
1.Know the cause of the oppression-Daniel 9:5-12
2.Deal with it from the foundation-Psalm11:3;Matthew 15:13
3.Call unto God-Joel 2:32
4.Come unto Jesus-Matthew 11:28
5.Fasting and aggressive prayers-Psalm 65:2;Isaiah 14:1-5
